Today's
demand for Angus cattle is at its highest level ever. And the need
for superior seedstock, likewise, has never been greater -- nor
more important. Through stringent culling practices and severe selection,
today the "Geis Angus" program is in the most advantageous
and most positive position since its foundation. The contribution
that "Geis Angus" is able to make will have more of a
progressive impact on the beef industry than ever before. And this
genetic strength will lead to sound, functional and predictable
cattle that meet the high standards so important to the "Geis
Angus" breeding programs.
A significant
contribution to the success of Geis Angus has also been a carefully
planned show and sale program where results of the Geis breeding
program may be carefully matched to breeding programs in other leading
Angus herds. The results of this herd comparison research studies
is then reflected not only in the type of breeding stock at Geis
Angus, but also in the selection of herd bulls and semen from industry-leading
herd sires.
The
intensive performance program at Geis Angus documents the gainability
and productive levels of the entire herd -- both for the foundation
females and all of their progeny. Complete performance information
-- including EPDs and indexes, are readily available on birth weights,
weaning weights, yearling weights and for other areas of concern
to potential customers.
Strengths
of particular concern at Geis Angus include many industry standards
plus a number of special strengths which identify the Geis Angus

We
do a limited amount of A.I. We buy the best herd sire prospects
we can find after doing a lot of research. We focus on the strength
of the cow family of all the sires that we use. We feel the strength
of the cow is so very important, so the more we know about as many
cows in a prospective sire's pedigree the better. Udders, feet,
disposition, longevity and consistency in the cows ability to produce
problem free and wean above average calves.
We
have sent live cattle, semen and embryos to many parts of the world.
Some of the very popular cattle in Great Britain, England, Scotland,
Denmark as well as the first Red Angus female to Australia, several
groups to Brazil and embryos to all these as well as to Germany.
We
always enjoy visits from old and new friends from around the world.
It is one of the special things that comes along with raising Angus
cattle.
